It’s February and it is the month of love. However, if your passion for your home is beginning to fade and you are yearning for pastures new, it’s also the perfect time to put it on the market, because spring is just around the corner. The good news is that with mortgage costs coming down and concerns over the budget fading, there is a real air of optimism in 2026. All the indices are reporting a New Year bounce in both sales and activity, and even though the base rate didn’t come down this month, it looks increasingly like it will soon.
If you do want to put it on the market, bear in mind that Winter can be very hard on our homes, so it may well need a little TLC to make it look its best.
And it all starts at the front with ‘kerb appeal’ and how to make those first impressions really work for you. You’d be surprised at the number of studies that have found that even the colour of your front door can influence a potential buyer! So make sure it really shines!
Mostly, though, it’s just about freshening things up. Clean those windows and do all those little jobs you tend to put off, such as replacing light bulbs, sorting out that dripping tap, or fixing any broken kitchen cupboards, because they set the tone for everything else. If a home looks well looked after, people will assume it is. And there’s no doubt, a quick lick of paint will do wonders, too.
However, before you do anything, why not just give us a call and we can arrange a valuation and then you’ll know exactly where you are and what needs doing.
Right, that’s it from me for now. If I don’t hear from you before, I will see you here, same time, same place, next month.
