Published: 18/05/2020 By Tam van WykI’m going to keep it short and sweet this month. Although it has been an eventful month, it’s not been a terribly exciting one. Unlike many businesses, we have stayed open, even if our offices have been physically closed, as there are still properties to be managed, a number of sales to be completed and new stock coming onto the market, for both rent and sale. People have had to be creative to make it happen, doing things like sending us virtual tours of their houses, made on their mobile phones so we could do valuations. It’s amazing, really, how the property world never stops turning.
And their efforts will be rewarded. As you can imagine, having spent so much time cooped up in our homes, many of us are deciding it’s time to move on. Others are just having a daydream. But remember, if they spot the right property, that daydream can quickly turn serious. Some of the more popular properties are even building waiting lists for when the lockdown eases, and, according to the rumours, that might be quite soon for our sector.
I said earlier, not much was happening this month – I was wrong! The government has recently announced the re-opening of the property market! That’s exciting news, indeed. There are, of course, some updated rules for viewings, including making sure internal doors are opened beforehand, that social distancing is maintained and the number of viewers will be restricted to a maximum of two people. Here at Lawson Rutter, we’re ahead of the game and have been planning our strategy for just this. Have a read of our Viewing and Access Policy on how we’re going to safely execute property viewings.
It means we can finally all get moving again. And, if you want to take advantage of all the pent-up demand that’s been building, you’re going to need to get your skates on. Give us a call and we can get you up and running at just the right moment.
